Training in the TIPS Program,  for servers of alcohol

Liability and You...

Let's face it,  you or your staff or business "sell,  deliver,  or give away" alcohol,  and that is a responsibility not to be taken lightly.    How you do things every day can have an impact on the lives of others as well as your business.

Patron intoxication,  drunk driving,  and underage drinking are all sources of risk and liability for you and your business.
Common negligence laws:
we all know that if through our actions we cause harm to others,  we can be held liable.
Dram Shop liability:   in many states,  including New York State,  this form of liability
(also known as "liquor liability") can apply.    It refers to your responsibility should a
third party be harmed as a result of improper serving.

The law requires that you make reasonable efforts to prevent intoxication and underage drinking.    Training in TIPS,  or requiring all of your staff be trained,  is a reasonable effort.

Some benefits of TIPS training:
-  Better compliance with state and local regulations,  meaning decreased violations
Decreased penalties for any violations
-  Lower insurance premiums
-  Protection from alcohol liability lawsuits

If needed,  Peter could be available to provide expert testimony on the TIPS program and
the training that was received.    As a Director of Security,  Peter has extensive experience testifying in courtroom settings.

TIPS training makes sense for you and your business.
